The unveiling of the PawSox time capsule at the old McCoy Stadium

⚾️ History Uncovered in Pawtucket ⚾️

Today, Pawtucket city officials cracked open two time capsules found beneath the historic McCoy Stadium as the ballpark is being torn down.

One capsule dated back to the stadium’s original construction in 1940. Inside was a letter from Thomas McCoy, the chairman at the time, complete with the Pawtucket city seal—a direct message from the past.

The other capsule celebrated baseball’s longest game—a 33-inning showdown between the Rochester Red Wings and the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Fittingly, today marked the 44th anniversary of the end of that legendary game.

Inside the capsules were incredible pieces of history, including:
