PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence police seized large amounts of fentanyl and cocaine as part of multiple drug investigations that led to several arrests across the city.
Officials said the cases were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks operating in Providence and surrounding areas.
Multiple investigations lead to arrests
Police said three separate investigations resulted in the arrests of seven adults and one juvenile.
Detectives said the operations targeted individuals involved in distributing fentanyl and cocaine across Providence and nearby communities.
Drugs, cash and weapons seized
During the investigations, officers seized significant quantities of narcotics and other items linked to drug trafficking.
Police said they recovered about 473 grams of fentanyl and more than 539 grams of cocaine, along with cash, firearms, ammunition, and drug distribution materials.
Authorities said the seizures came after months of surveillance, controlled purchases, and the execution of multiple search warrants.
Investigations focused on distribution networks
In one case, investigators identified suspects believed to be distributing fentanyl throughout Providence and into Massachusetts.
Another investigation focused on cocaine distribution tied to multiple locations in Providence and Cranston.
A third case involved what police described as a coordinated drug network operating out of several properties in Providence and Warwick.
Charges filed in connection with busts
Those arrested face a range of felony charges, including possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, conspiracy, and firearm-related offenses.
Police said the investigations are part of a broader effort to reduce the flow of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in the community.
