WOONSOCKET, R.I. — A Woonsocket man is facing charges after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run that injured a teenager in a crosswalk before allegedly leaving the scene. Authorities later located the vehicle involved and arrested the driver.
Police identified the suspect as Joshua Rosario, who was charged with duty to stop in an accident resulting in injuries. Investigators said the incident happened Thursday as a 17-year-old boy was walking home and crossing Park Avenue when he was struck in the middle of a marked crosswalk.
According to police, the teenager was thrown approximately 100 feet by the impact. Investigators said there were no signs indicating the driver attempted to brake before the crash and alleged the vehicle continued traveling after hitting the teen.
The victim was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening. Rosario was expected to be arraigned in Providence District Court.
