PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island ranks number 3 in the United States for working moms, according to a new report from WalletHub.
The Ocean State placed behind Connecticut and Massachusetts, earning high marks for work-life balance, childcare access, and career opportunities.
Strong work-life balance and shorter work weeks
Rhode Island ranked number 3 in work-life balance, driven in part by shorter average work weeks.
The report found that women in the state work about 35.5 hours per week on average, giving families more flexibility.
The state also scored highly for parental leave policies, allowing mothers to take time off during major life events.
High access to childcare and healthcare
Rhode Island ranked number 5 for childcare, supported by a high number of childcare workers per capita.
The state also has one of the highest numbers of pediatricians per capita, making it easier for families to access care for their children.
Career opportunities and leadership roles
Rhode Island placed number 14 for professional opportunities.
The report highlights strong workplace advancement, with one of the highest ratios of female to male executives and senior-level managers.
The state also has some of the lowest gender representation gaps in manufacturing, showing broader opportunities across industries.
Part of a national trend
The report comes as about 74% of moms across the country are part of the workforce.
While Rhode Island performs well, challenges such as pay gaps and representation in top leadership roles still remain nationwide.
