Teenager fatally shot at Cranston apartment complex.

CRANSTON, R.I. — What police believe is a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed at the Pocasset Village apartments on Dyer Avenue.

Police said the teen, has not yet been publicly identified as they work to notify his family. Officers were called to the complex just before 9:40 a.m. for a report of someone lying in the parking lot, but investigators believe the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m.

Several shell casings were found at the scene. Detectives say the suspects fled in a vehicle and remain at large. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

A vehicle possibly connected to the homicide was found near Aleppo and Bosworth streets in Providence Tuesday morning. The vehicle was unoccupied and towed to Cranston Police Headquarters.

There has been a recent influx in crime in Cranston, with a shooting at Garden City Center in July, and Thursday’s arrest of a Cranston man on gun and drug charges at a home day care.
