BARRINGTON, R.I. — A Barrington Christian Academy coach and staff member is facing criminal charges following an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct involving a student.
According to Rhode Island State Police, 53-year-old Sean Cassidy was arrested Monday after investigators uncovered allegations involving a current student under the age of 16. Authorities say the incidents allegedly occurred both on and off school property.
As part of the investigation, detectives executed search warrants at Cassidy’s Pawtucket home and at a portion of the school campus. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child and procurement of alcoholic beverages for underage persons.
Cassidy was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, released on bail, and ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. State police said the investigation remains active and additional criminal charges are expected.
Barrington Christian Academy confirmed that Cassidy’s employment was terminated immediately following his arrest. School officials said they are cooperating fully with law enforcement and asked for privacy for students, families, and staff as the investigation continues.
