CCRI Warwick campus on lockdown after report of possible armed person nearby

WARWICK, R.I. — The Community College of Rhode Island Warwick (CCRI) campus is currently on lockdown Tuesday morning after reports of a person possibly carrying a firearm in a wooded area nearby.

The situation was reported around 9:15 a.m. along Commonwealth Avenue, prompting a response from Warwick police and fire officials.

As a precaution, the campus was placed on lockdown while authorities continue to investigate. All exterior doors have been secured, and those inside are being asked to limit movement both inside and outside the building.

Classes at the CCRI Warwick campus have been suspended until the lockdown is lifted.

There is no confirmation of any injuries at this time. Police remain on scene.
