Gunpoint kidnapping suspect arrested after victim reportedly forced into car in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The suspect accused of kidnapping a woman by gunpoint has been arrested.

Just after midnight on Thursday, Providence Police responded to reports of a man with a gun on Crimea Street near Chalkstone Avenue. Witnesses told officers that the man had forced a woman into his vehicle at gunpoint before driving away.

Gunpoint kidnapping suspect arrested

Around 1:57 a.m., a Connecticut State Trooper spotted the suspect’s vehicle at a rest area on I-95 in Madison, about 85 miles from Providence. Inside were a man and woman, matching the BOLO alert issued by Providence Police.

The man was arrested on-site and a firearm was seized.

The condition of the victim have not yet been announced The investigation remains ongoing. Stay tuned for when more details are released.
