PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence is preparing to become part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup experience with PUMA’s House of Portugal, a new soccer and cultural attraction at Waterplace Park Pavilion.
The experience is set to open Wednesday, June 3, as part of Rhode Island’s Summer of Soccer initiative connected to the FIFA World Cup.
Organizers said the attraction will serve as a gathering place for soccer fans, residents and visitors traveling through New England during the tournament. Plans for the space include live watch parties, fan events, cultural programming, retail experiences and other soccer-related activities.
Officials said the project will also highlight the area’s strong Portuguese heritage while bringing additional visitors to downtown Providence. City leaders expect the attraction to increase foot traffic for local businesses and give Providence added exposure during one of the world’s largest sporting events.
In addition, the FIFA-approved PVD FanZone will open across the street at Station Park from June 11 through July 19. The free event will feature a main stage and a large screen broadcasting every World Cup match. Visitors can also expect food and drink vendors, live music and other activities throughout the tournament.
PUMA designated House of Portugal as a Tier 1 global activation, placing Providence among select locations connected to the company’s World Cup efforts. The installation is expected to remain open through the summer as part of a larger soccer celebration across Rhode Island.
