PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island officials are preparing to introduce a World Cup fan experience aimed at bringing the energy of the global tournament to the Ocean State.
The FIFA-approved PVD FanZone at Station Park will run from June 11 through July 19, offering a free event with a main stage and large screen broadcasting every match, along with food and drink vendors, live music, and other activities.
State leaders say the fan zone is part of a broader effort to boost tourism and support local businesses during the tournament, while also serving as a central hub for soccer fans to gather and celebrate the World Cup without leaving Rhode Island.
Train service from Providence to Foxboro will not run during the World Cup, as the MBTA cannot serve both Providence and Boston. Fans will instead be able to take buses from the Convention Center.
Round-trip fares are $95 and must be purchased ahead of time. Tickets are limited to fans with a valid same-day Boston Stadium match ticket, which must be presented at boarding.
