PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Pawtucket police have arrested a 48-year-old man after a woman was found stabbed multiple times inside a Gooding Street residence late Saturday night.

Officers were called to the home around 10 p.m. on November 30, where they discovered a 42-year-old woman suffering from several stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

The suspect, identified as Ignacio Sanchez, was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators charged Sanchez with:

  • Domestic Violence – Assault Intent Commit Specified Felonies
  • Possession of Knife During Commission of a Crime
  • Domestic Violence – Disorderly Conduct – 1st Offense
  • Domestic Violence – Assault With Dangerous Weapon in Dwelling House

Sanchez was arraigned Monday in Providence District Court, where he did not enter a plea. Police say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

A judge ordered Sanchez held on $50,000 bail with surety and imposed conditions requiring him to avoid any contact with the victim and report to pretrial services.
