One of the Most Expensive Basketball Cards in the World Pulled in Rhode Island
One of the biggest sports card pulls in the country happened right here in Rhode Island tonight.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, the highly sought-after Cooper Flagg 1-of-1 NBA Rookie Debut Patch Autograph Redemption card was pulled during an online break by Rhody Breakers, connected to Baseball Cards of RI in North Kingstown.
The person who landed the card is reportedly from South Carolina and paid just $515 online for the Dallas Mavericks spot.
The break was a PYT, or “Pick Your Team.” Collectors purchase a specific team and receive any cards pulled for that team. That $515 Mavericks spot produced the biggest possible hit in the product — Flagg’s one-of-one NBA Rookie Debut Patch Autograph.
The card features the special NBA Debut patch connected to the jersey Flagg wore during his first regular-season NBA game and includes his autograph. Only one exists.
The card was already considered a seven-figure collectible before tonight’s pull. ESPN reported it could sell for millions, while Sports Card Investor founder Geoff Wilson has estimated its value could reach as high as $5 million.
The Dallas Mavericks have also offered the owner two premium lower-level season tickets for 32 years, a signed game-worn Flagg rookie jersey and additional memorabilia and experiences.
For perspective, the jersey Flagg wore during the first half of his NBA debut reportedly sold privately for $1 million.
After a nationwide hunt, one of the most valuable basketball cards in the world was pulled shortly after 9 p.m. tonight in North Kingstown, Rhode Island — all from a $515 Mavericks spot purchased by a collector in South Carolina.
