EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A worker at Bradley Hospital in East Providence was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting an underage patient at the facility.

Jose Montanez, 33, of Warwick, faces charges of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, and indecent solicitation of a child, all felony offenses.

Montanez was arraigned on Thursday but did not enter a plea to the charges. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

The allegations were first reported to a clinical supervisor on June 11, which led to an internal investigation and the employee’s subsequent termination.

Hospital officials confirmed they immediately reported the incident to the R.I. Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), the R.I. Department of Health, the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, and the East Providence Police Department.

Montanez is scheduled to return to court in October.
