Newport Creamery sign removed from Garden City location

CRANSTON, R.I. — Less than 24 hours after closing its doors for good, the iconic sign at the Newport Creamery at Garden City Center in Cranston was already coming down.

The longtime restaurant officially closed Sunday after serving the community for more than 60 years. By Monday, crews were seen removing the familiar Newport Creamery signage. 

Watching the sign come down made the end of an era really hit home.

While this location is gone, other Newport Creamery restaurants across Massachusetts and Rhode Island remain open.

Massachusetts:

Rhode Island:

  • Greenville – 568 Putnam Pike

  • Warwick – 1256 Warwick Avenue
