Newport double shooting suspect arrested in Virginia

NEWPORT NEWS, V.A. — A of the suspect wanted in connection with the July 19 double shooting in Newport has been arrested.

The Newport Police Department announced that 19-year-old Tyquan Johnson was arrested in Newport News, Virginia, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Johnson was wanted on charges of felony assault with a firearm and firing in a compact area following the shooting at the Park Holm housing complex, where two people were injured. Police previously said the victims’ injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
