NEWPORT, R.I. — The Newport Police Department is asking for the public’s help as detectives continue investigating the July 19, 2026, double shooting in the city.
Police have released surveillance images of an unidentified man they would like to identify and question in connection with the investigation. Authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous and are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact investigators.
In a separate development, Newport Police announced they have obtained an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Tyquan Johnson. He is wanted on charges of felony assault with a firearm and firing in a compact area in connection with the same investigation. Police also say Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous.
The investigation remain ongoing.
