FOXBORO, M.A. — Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on December 2, according to Boston 25.

The charges surfaced after the New England Patriots defeated the New York Giants on Monday Night Football the day prior. Diggs, 32, has categorically denied the allegations.

In a statement released by the team, the Patriots said they are aware of the accusations and will continue to cooperate with authorities and the NFL as the legal process unfolds.

During a court appearance Tuesday, Diggs’ attorney requested that the police report be impounded and indicated discussions were underway to resolve the matter. A judge said a ruling would be issued soon.

“As we speak, they’re working to come to an agreement on that,” DiStefano said, according to Boston 25.

This remains an ongoing legal case.

Diggs was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and was traded to the Buffalo Bills where he had a career from 2020 until 2023. He had a short time with the Texans in 2024 before he was finally traded to the Patriots in 2025.
