Authorities said the crash involved a driver who was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Cranston.

Police said the man was driving a white 2013 Infiniti G37 when the crash occurred shortly after 12:15 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said the vehicle struck the side of a blue 2022 Subaru Ascent that was traveling south on Route 136.

Following the collision, the Subaru became fully engulfed in flames.

First responders and several bystanders attempted to put out the fire. However, Carolyn and James Carcasi were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver of the Infiniti was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Swansea Police Department said officers had previously been alerted to watch for the Infiniti, but were not pursuing it at the time of the crash.
