NEW YORK, N.Y. — Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a day that forever changed our nation and claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people, including eleven people with Rhode Island ties.
We remember David and Lynn Angell of Barrington; Carol Bouchard of Warwick; Mark Lawrence Charette, born in Warwick; Michael Gould, born in Newport; James Edward Hayden of Pawtucket; Amy Nicole Jarret of North Smithfield; Kathryn L. LaBorie of Providence; Shawn Nassaney of Pawtucket; Renee Tetreault Newell of Cranston; and Jessica Sachs, born in Warwick.

Some were aboard American Airlines Flight 11 or United Airlines Flight 175. Others were working or attending meetings inside the World Trade Center. Their connections to communities across Rhode Island remain part of our state’s history.
A 9/11 memorial stands at the Rhode Island State House, where the names of Rhode Islanders who lost their lives in the attacks were added to the tribute in 2018.
Twenty-five years later, we remember their lives, their families and all those lost on September 11, 2001.
Never forget.
