PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Centreville Bank Stadium is doing something it has never done before. On Friday, June 12, the stadium that has spent the last year hosting Rhode Island FC, college football, and international rugby will open its gates for its first-ever comedy show. And the headliner is not a small name.
Bill Burr, the Grammy-nominated stand-up who packed Fenway Park and built one of the most loyal followings in comedy, is bringing his 2026 tour to Pawtucket. It is his only New England stop on the tour, and it is shaping up to be one of the bigger nights of the summer in Rhode Island.
What is happening
Centreville Bank Stadium, the home of Rhode Island FC in downtown Pawtucket, is hosting Bill Burr Live on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. It is the first comedy event in the stadium’s history and part of a broader push to turn the venue into a year-round destination for live entertainment, not just sports.
The show is being presented in partnership with Grand Rising Curations. Tickets are on sale now through the stadium’s website.
Why this is a big deal for Rhode Island
It is the stadium’s first comedy show ever. Centreville Bank Stadium opened on May 3, 2025 and has spent its first year building a reputation as one of the most impressive new venues in the country. SportsTravel Magazine named it Best New or Renovated Venue at the 2025 TEAMS Conference. It has hosted a U.S. Open Cup match against the New England Revolution, an international friendly between Nicaragua and Puerto Rico, the Major League Rugby Championship, and the Brown vs. URI Governor’s Cup. Adding live comedy is a real shift in what the stadium does, and Bill Burr is the act they picked to launch it.
Bill Burr is a New England native. He grew up in Massachusetts, and his comedy has always carried that voice. He has sold out Fenway Park. He has headlined Madison Square Garden. He hosts the long-running Monday Morning Podcast, has multiple Netflix specials, and has been Grammy-nominated for his stand-up.
The setup is going to be different from a regular game. The stadium normally seats around 10,500 for soccer. For the Bill Burr show, they are adding a stage on the field and additional seating, expanding capacity to roughly 17,000 people. Stadium General Manager Paul Byrne has described the experience as “very intimate,” with strong sight lines from across the venue.
About the venue
If you have not been to Centreville Bank Stadium yet, here is the short version. It is a state-of-the-art outdoor stadium in downtown Pawtucket, sitting on the banks of the Seekonk River. It is 100 percent electric, energy-efficient, and built with modern lighting and acoustics that are well-suited for live events beyond soccer. The stadium is the home of Rhode Island FC of the USL Championship, and in less than a year it has become one of the most talked-about new venues in the region.
For the comedy show, expect a true outdoor experience. Open sky, big crowd, and a setup designed to make the room feel close even at scale.
