PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at a Federal Hill restaurant has turned himself in to police.

Authorities say 23-year-old Nyzaiah Wooten surrendered at Providence police headquarters and is now in custody.

Wooten had been sought in connection with the April 16 shooting at Capri Seafood in DePasquale Square, where a 27-year-old man was shot in the abdomen following a verbal altercation.

Police said the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, underwent emergency surgery and is currently in stable condition.

Investigators allege the suspect pulled out a firearm during the dispute, fired a single shot and then fled the scene on foot toward nearby streets.

Wooten is facing felony assault and multiple firearms-related charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
