PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Florida man is facing charges after police say he secretly recorded women without their knowledge inside Providence Place.

According to police, officers responded to the mall Saturday shortly before 1:00 p.m. after receiving a report of suspected video voyeurism. When they arrived, the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Michael Robert Pron, was already being detained by mall security.

Investigators say multiple videos found on the man’s phone showed women being recorded while shopping. One victim told police she felt like she was being followed throughout a store, saying the suspect would stop and pretend to browse whenever she did.

Authorities said surveillance footage later showed the suspect placing his phone under a woman’s skirt and recording videos without her knowledge.

Officers said they uncovered 20 recordings from that day and indicated the suspect’s phone contained many more similar videos taken at different times and places.

Pron was arrested and charged one count of disorderly conduct.
